Hiking in India

It’s always says ‘walking is good for health’, and when you do it for fun in rough paths, it’s called Hiking. If you enjoy the walk, Hiking will be a wonderful experience for you.

In India the beautiful range of hills provide wonderful areas for professional Hiking. If you are physically fit and courageous, it’s enough to take a challenge. India is a diversified country in geographical manner also.

That’s a reason there are not only Himalayan region although the lower altitude regions of the Western Ghats and Nilgri hills also provide best hiking tracks.

When you will do hiking in India the lush green orchards, beautiful woodland, picturesque sites and beautiful fauna & flora welcome with open arms.

In true sense India is a paradise for hikers.Before stat the Hiking it is very essential to have a right understanding and knowledge about sport to avoid blisters, rashes and injuries. So there are some tips for beginners in hiking.

a. Always go for the hiking with the full information about the season, activities and the person who will guide you during Hiking.

b. Hiking Shoes: Always remember your shoes should be comfortable and according to your foot number (neither big nor small in size). A hiker should also have multiple pair of shoes to meet different climates and surfaces.

c. Water: Water is one of the most essential commodities during hiking. During hiking you can get many natural water resources, but they could have large number of Bacteria, which could make sick you. So for safety always carry your own potable water or water filter.

d. Food: The selection of right food items is very important during hiking. After a hard day schedule, it is batter to bring readymade food.

e. First Aid Kit: To take care of initial or small injuries first aid kit is must.

Except these Backpacks, binoculars, blankets/fleece, books, bottle bags, cameras and films, candle or lantern, compasses, camp kitchen, eyeglass accessories and sunglasses, food, foot care, gloves, hammocks, jackets etc. are the important items, which need to carry, indeed.

Some popular places for hiking in India are: Har Ki Doon Valley (Uttrakhand), Mussoorie (Uttrakhand), Kullu to Manikaran (HP), Shimla via Narkanda (HP), Sutlej-Beas Watershed (HP), Darjeeling tp Singla, Darjeeling to Bijabbari, Darjeeling to Kurseong via Old Military Road and Darjeeling to Tiger Hill.

Animal Safari in India (Camel, Elephant and Yak):
India is a land of diversity. Here you can find different colors of culture, tradition, language and many other reasons of life. Due to this diversity India has lots of thing to explore by tourists (come from around the world). And Safari is one of the best ways to explore diversity in India, especially the remote and wild areas of country. In most of such wild areas animal safari (includes Camel Safari, elephant Safari and Yak Safari) is famous.

Camel Safari:
The Thar Desert area of Rajasthan is a perfect place for camel safari in India. The Jaselmer and Bikaner districts of Rajasthan cover major parts of Thar Desert area. The Rajasthan tourism department arrange camel safari, although you can board private guide with camel ride in specific places in these two districts. To move around the dry and golden land of Thar in extreme weather conditions, really an unforgettable experience of life time.

Yak Safari:
It is one of its own kinds of adventure ride on Himalayan animal Yak. You can enjoy this safari only in Indian state of Sikkim. It is really majestic safari to sit on a back of Yak and moving through the craggy trails in the midst of splendid beauty of Sikkim. Sikkim tourist department arranged the Yak Safari for the tourists in different parts of the state. Yak Safari is notably unforgettable experience of its kind.

Elephant Safari:
When you sit on the top of elephant back and move in jungle, it gives you the feeling of royal age of India (like in past king went for the poaching). Elephant safari is an ideal way to visit into the beaten tracks of jungles in India and explore the areas where it becomes difficult even for jeeps to travel. The Elephant safari is available at most of the sanctuaries and national parks in India. Elephant safaris are generally of 1 or 2 hours duration and that time you would get opportunities to get up close with animals and can take their exclusive photographs.
