Emirates Airline on of the major international airlines in India from the Middle East The national airline of Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Emirates operate their comprehensive network from its hub at Dubai International Airport.
With routes to all continents except Antarctica, the airline operates over 1800 flights on a weekly basis. Flying to 101 destinations in 61 countries, the company operates four of longest non-stop commercial flights on the Boeing 777-200LR.
One of the largest airlines in the world, Emirates ranks amongst the top 10 carriers in most measures, including revenue and passenger kilometers, becoming the largest airline in the Middle East in most terms.
Illustrating its size , Emirates moved all operations to the specially buillt Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport. Considering the huge construction industry in the region, it is no surprise that the terminal is over, 1,500,000 m2 (370 acres), and subsequently the largest building in the world by floor space.
Carrying over 21 million passengers annually Emirates is one of only six airlines to operate an all wide-body aircraft fleet. Currently at 123, as their growth continues exponentially, the airline will have a fleet in excess of 450 aircraft by 2020 and 200 by 2012. Becoming the second operator of the Airbus A380 in mid 2008, they will be operating a total of 58 of the “superjumbo” by 2012.
With 25000 employees, their recruitment process is brutal. Of 1000 candidates attending interview, only 50 are taken on. Such levels of selection can only be in the passengers interest. Passengers are also well catered for in other ways, particularly in India with Emirates flying to 10 airports throughout the country.
Cabin classes provided by the airline are consistent with that of other major carriers, in that there are Economy, Business and First. Whilst in First Class you can expect to be pampered with such amenities as showers, spas, mini-bars and a fully flat bed, Economy passengers can also enjoy a host of privileges including reclining seats and a fully integrated entertainment system.
Emirates has won numerous awards, totaling over 400. Being voted the fifth best airline in the world by research consultancy firm Skytrax in 2009, saw a leap of four places, following strong showings in the awards in previous years.
The commitment to the environment is clearly a concern for the international airline in India. Alongside being the biggest carrier operating the Airbus A380, the most efficient aircraft available, they instigate brave new initiatives and apply careful thought to cut down on waste in daily operations.
