Korean Air is the national airline of South Korea with its headquarters in Seoul, Korea. This airline serves 20 domestic destinations and 130 cities in 45 countries around the world.
When it comes to passengers carried, Korean Air is considered as one of the top 20 airlines. Korean Air has its global headquarters campus and operation center in Gonghang-dong, Seoul. It also has a domestic office campus at Seoul’s Gimpo International Airport.
Korean Air was founded by South Korean Government in 1962 with the sole purpose of replacing Korean National Airlines. In 1971, long haul services were introduced and a year later flights to Los Angeles started operating.
In 1973, international flights to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Paris and Los Angeles were started using Boeing 747. Korean Airlines purchased three A300 airbuses in 1975 and was therefore the first Asian Airbus customers.
When this airline was first started, its name was Korean Airlines, but over time the name was changed to Korean Air. When you take a look at its aircraft you will notice a blue top, silver livery, with the new Korean Air logo with an accented “taegukki” design.
Due to the economic recession in 1998, the airline had to reduce its staff, flights, and destinations travelled. In 2002 it was able to recover and it expanded its global network of destinations.
There are many other Asian carriers but Korean Air is the only carrier that flies to 14 cities in 50 states. As of March 2007, Korean Air had 16, 623 employees and in June that same year they created a low cost carrier that gave competition to Korea’s high speed railway system.
Korean Air offers both business and first class service to its passengers. With a total of 102 aircrafts, 24 cargo flights and 126 planes, Korean Air plans on being the world’s best airline.
If you travel first class you will be offered a kosmo sleeper seat that reclines 180 degrees. This seat has privacy partitions, lumbar massage, individual reading lights, a buddy seat and movable side arm rests.
Business Class has new prestige plus seats that comes with the same features as the First Class. Economy Class on the other hand has seats equipped with footrests, cup holder, adjustable headrests, and an 8.4” personal screen AVOD entertainment.
All newly retrofitted aircrafts have in-flight entertainment, a new interior color scheme and food served with new tableware. Fly Korean Air and experience comfort and great service throughout your journey.
