The Syria’s national airliner has started way back in 1946 with two aircrafts with Damascus Aleppo and Der Alzour Kamishli as destinations and has grown with time to become today’s Syrian Arab Airlines.
In 1961 the Syrian Airlines becomes Syrian Arab Airlines and get destinations handled by Syrian Airlines and United Arab Airlines. Where the United Arab Airlines is Airline Company formed by the merger of Syrian airlines and Misrair during the union of Syria and Egypt.
This Syrian Arab Airlines started with eight small aircrafts serving domestic and international destinations. Starting from 1963 the Syrian Arab Airlines started flight services to Rome and Munich, Paris, and London.
With friendly political relationship with Russia the Syrians have bought mostly the Russian aircrafts that includes Antonov An-26, IlyushinI1-76 and Yakovle Yak-40 and tupolev Tu-134B-3. As a great leap Syrian Arab Airlines started service to New York with Royal Jordanian Airlines cooperation in 1978.
Besides Damascus as the main Hub, the Syrian Arab Airline has also have the Aleppo international airport as another activity center. With eleven aircrafts at hand and 7 more to be delivered in near future Syrian Arab airlines is presently serving about 49 destinations.
Syrian air is part of the Arab air carriers association and it has the code share agreements with Egypt Air, Royal Jordanian Airlines and Saudi Arabian airlines.
Now Syrian Arab Airlines destination includes in countries in Asia, Europe and North Africa. Because the sanctions forced on Syria the airline industry have suffered some set back.
With recent developments Syria Arab Airline showing great improvements in the industry working fast towards adding flights and destinations.
Syrian Arab Airline have good presence in Asia but the presence is limited mostly to south west Asia. Though Syrian was operating flight to two major cities New Delhi and Mumbai in India both the services were terminated.
Syrian Arab Airlines is continuously improving standards in passenger safety and comfort, adding new destinations and even going back t terminated destinations will grow to be a better name in airline industry.
