Turkish Airlines is found in 1933 with four aircrafts in its fleet. And it is the national carrier of Turkey. Though it has started in 1933 the first international flight was started only in 1947 in the rout of Ankara- Istanbul – Ankara.
Over the years this Turkish Airline has out grown local competitors and has become a major airline company in the region. With its base in Ataturk International Airport, Istanbul, Turkey, Turkish Airlines have over 135 aircrafts in its fleet serves over 175 domestic and international destinations all over the world.
Turkish Airline operates flight services to 34 airports and 25 of them handle only domestic destinations only.
The majority of Turkish Airlines international services are operated from Istanbul Ataturk Airport as its primary Hub and the secondary hubs are namely Esenboga International Airport and Sabiha Gokcen International Airport.
The Turkish Airlines operates over125 international destinations spread across 70 countries where around 50 such destinations can be reached only in three hours. Turkish Airlines serve a number of major cities in Asia like Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Karachi, Mumbai, New Delhi, Osaka, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore City and Tokyo.
And Turkish Airlines also serve New York and Chicago in North America
In October2008 Turkish airline send shock waves when announced its interest to buy another 100 Aircrafts to add to its existing fleet. The total value of this said purchase will be around US$ 6 Billion.
With its subsidiaries Turkish Airlines is tightening its grip in the local market. With AnadoluJet a low cost business plan which is founded in 2008 Turkish airlines is all set to take on the competitors in that region. Turkish airline has the code share agreement in place with as many as 6 major airliners apart from the star alliance cooperation.
Turkish Airlines have major Indian destinations New Delhi and Mumbai in its destinations list and thus serving Indian travelers too. Where the New Delhi rout started back in 2003 and Mumbai route started in 2006.
Turkish Airlines is all set to increase business and revenue from the existing market and generate new horizons.
