In the westernmost part of the Andhra Pradesh, representing true
blend of history and modernity on one side and pilgrimage and forts
on the other-side lies Anantapur.
It is the biggest district in the state and spreads over 19,130-sq-kms.
On the North it is bounded by Kurnool; Cuddapah and Chittoor bound
it on the south and the west by the State of Karntake. Its silk
trade in the modern industry is what the whole district is known
for. And its very famous tourist attraction is the Lapakshi temple.
Anantapur is an authentic and absolutely flourishing tourist dreamland.
Puttaparth, located in Anantapur, is the home of Sri Satya Sai Baba,
believed to be the reincarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba.
And yet another place worth the trip is Thimmamma Marrimanu, an
amazing 550 year old banyan tree that has found mentioned in the
Guiness Book of World Records for its enormous size. |
