Andhra Pradesh lies on the east coast of India. The Bay of Bengal sea coast runs 974 km in length. The states of Orissa and Madhya Pradesh border the north, while Maharashtra and Karnataka lies to its west and Tamil Nadu to its south.

Andhra Pradesh is the biggest state in the south of India and also its fifth largest state. Andhra Pradesh is situated on the Deccan (south) plateau - one of the oldest geological developments in India. The great Godavari and Krishna rivers cut through the plateau, forming large deltas before inflowing the Bay of Bengal.

The state is appropriately termed as the 'Rice Granary of India'. With its recent attempt in entering into information technology, through the new hi-tech centre on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh is promoting itself as the 'No 1 State'. Kuchipudi, the classical dance that started off from the state has vital choreography and is somewhat similar to Bharatanatyam.
