Andhra Pradesh was fashioned by combining the old princely state of Hyderabad with the Telugu tongued portions of the former state of Madras.
Once upon a time it was a part of the Mauryan Empire during the reign of Ashoka, it became an essential Buddhist centre.
It is still manifested from the early Buddhist influence in places like Amravati, Nagarjunkonda(one of the archaeological sites in India), etc.
After the death of Emperor Ashoka, the Satavahanas established their kingdom in this section.
Later on, it came in the hegemony of the Chalukyas and in the 10th century was overcome by the Chola Kingdom. Agriculture has always been the chief source of income for the state's economy. The two important rivers of India, the Godavari and Krishna, flow through the state. Rice, sugarcane, cotton, mirchi, and tobacco are the region's local crops. The state has also just recently started to focus on the fields of information technology and biotechnology.
