Religion
India is not having one religion being a sacred country we mingle with person of any religion. India can be said to be the oldest civilization and Sanskrit is the oldest language and it is still used. Vedas and other scriptures were also written in Sanskrit and even it used even today.
Other religions like Buddhists, Jain and Hindus know that India itself is a sacred country, people are free to follow any religion. There is no restriction on it. There are uncountable gods and goddesses. People are highly religious and believe in one or another god. Although Indian religion has its roots sticked in to our rich history. It constitutes very vast range of religious communities and the best part is that Indian religion is not only confined to the Indian Subcontinent.
Dance
Indian dance comprises varied styles of dancing in the country. Different parts of dance has been originated from the different parts, and mainly these dance were developed locally. There are countless folk dances and some classical dance forms, they are simply a treat to our eyes. The Sangeet Natak Akademi which is the national academy for performing the arts, has recognizes eight different traditional dances as Indian Classical dances.
India is so diverse in its culture that dance in India took too many forms. If we see then the world famous dancing figure 'Nataraja', which is the work of Chola tradition. It denotes the achievements of art in the Indian culture. |
Cuisine
Indian spices and herbs are world famous, even in Cuisine one can easily feel influence of many cultures. There are so many varieties available in the Indian food like rice, so many different types of pulses, whole wheat flour. Some of the vital spices are black mustard seed, cumin, ginger, coriander and many more. In South Indian dishes curry leaves and coconut are inseparable part. Indians also love to eat sweet dishes and you can easily find countless of sweet dishes, every region has there own specialty. One thing sure these dishes are really mouth watering.
Festivals
Hindus observe sacred occasions in their observance. There are so many religions that follows diverse culture which also accounts for the number of celebrations. Festivals help in uniting every one. There are so many festivals some of them are also seasonal, some celebrate harvest and some birth of a god and also some are the important events in the Hindu mythology.
In India every happy moment calls for a celebration that too with some dances and with delicious delicacies.
There are so many festivals that every festival cannot be celebrated by everyone in the country. Pilgrim and holy centers of every religion is in some part of our country and millions of devotees come and bow their head in religious ceremonies.
Ganesh Chaturthi- Ganesh Chaturthi is also known as a Vinayak Chaturthi, Ganesha is son of Shiva and Parvathy. It is celebrated all over the India more elaborately in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Goa. From ancient Hindu calender it is celebrated in the month of Bhaadrapada.
Vaisakhi – it is the ancient harvest festival celebrated in the whole north India. It is decided by the solar calender because in this month Sun enters Mesha Rashi.
Deepawali or Diwali – popularly also known as festival of lights. It is celebrated all over the India, people light up diyas (clay lamps), celebrate it by eating sweets and also burn crackers. The day if officially announced holiday.
Holi Phagwah – Holi is a festival of colors, as per the Hindu calender it occurs in the month of Phalgun Purnima. People celebrate this festival with full enthusiasm.
Buddha Purnima- it is the day in a Buddhist calender and is believed to be festival of loyal Buddhists. Every festival in India is celebrated with so much of craze, people observe prayer, their custom and beliefs. Mostly in every festival people love to wear new dresses.
