This cultural allure offers some very wonderful forms of folk dances and these are Dollu Kunitha (Karnataka), Ghode Modni (Goa), and Lava Dance of Minicoy (Lakshadweep).
Dollu Kunitha:
This form of folk dance is a popular drum dance of Karnataka.
These large drums are slung around the necks of men and decorated with colorful clothes. During the dance performance singers sings religious praise and war songs. The uses of light and quick movements of feet are very important in the folk dance. Some other folk dance forms of Karnataka are Kayadis: perform as a ritual for the worship of Lord Subramanya, Balakat:
it is a folk dance form perform during harvesting time by the Dodavas, and Devare Thatte Kunitha, Yell-ammana Kunitha, Suggikunitha are other folk dances perform in the different parts of the Karnataka.
Ghode Mondi (Goa):
Goa was ruled by the Portuguese for long years hence you can see a very strong influence of the European culture. The same influence can see in the performing arts of the state, especially during annual carnival you can see it.
The Ghode Modni folk dance is performed in the memory of great worriers. During performance dancers wear attractive dresses and perform with swords. The carnival held for three days and dances perform Ghode Modni with full bloom and energy.
