Delhi Festivals in India, Delhi

Delhi, the capital of India is a large city with an extremely diverse population. People belonging to a variety of religions and castes live here.

Hence almost all festivals in this city are celebrated with a massive amount of joy and happiness.

Traditional dances, music, religious celebrations and so on are held on a citywide basis.

As each segment of people have their festival at different times of the year it is almost as if the entire city is having one big party all year around.

As one festival gets over, another one picks up pace and this cycle goes on and on.Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Parsis and so on all live in harmony in this great city.

People of all religions celebrate Diwali, the biggest festival of the Hindus with tremendous excitement. The whole city is decorated and lit up. Everyone is in a joyous mood and celebrations take place on a large scale.

The same with Id, Christmas, and Guru Nanak Jayanti etc. everyone celebrates these festivals as if it were their own.

The entire city of Delhi comes together and makes the most of these merry occasions. Parties, dances, dramas and the like are organized all over the city. Schools and colleges hold celebrations for their students and staff.

Festivals are indeed extremely important to keep the spirit of fellowship alive amongst people. It is on these occasions that people forget their differences and come together as one. The whole of Delhi is decorated and lit up in the colors of brotherhood and friendship.

People are in a charitable mood and hence a lot of help is offered to the poor and needy at the time of these festivities. Festivals are an important part of India's culture and the people of Delhi certainly leave no stone unturned while celebrating them.
