Eastern Wildlife Tour to Kaziranga National Park

Kaziranga National Park is considered as the heritage site of Assam. It comprises of a wide variety of flora and fauna scattered all over the park. The park is home for a large number of birds and animals.

But the recent incidents of encroachments by human beings have led to depletion of many animals. It is made of fertile alluvial soil.

It can be estimated that the park is a dwelling place for around 35 species of mammals and 479 spices of different birds. The three seasons experienced by animals of the forest are monsoon, winter and summer.

  • The Jungle Book

Watching animals like the rhinoceros, wild boar, hog deer, barasingha deer, rose-ringed parakeets, Asian elephants and jungle fowls serves as a soothing agent for people coming to spend vacations. A tour to Kaziranga National Park also gives a chance to see many reptiles like snakes, turtles and crocodiles.

In order to visit the tropical deciduous forest, there are varied safaris which are carried out at different timings. Among these, the jeep safari and elephant safari are most popular. The forest remains closed for visitors during monsoon.

  • The Safari Saga

Kaziranga has also arranged accommodation facilities for visitors like Wild Grass Lodge and Aranaya Resort. The trip to Kaziranga National Park gets successful only when a jeep or elephant can be arranged with the help of forest department for the purpose of safari.

Elephant safari start in the morning- one at 5:30 am or 6:30 am and the other at 3:00 pm in the afternoon. This lasts for about one hour. Jeep safari starts at 7:00 and 9:30 in the morning and continues for more than one hour. In some cases, meals are provided in safari only if the sightseeing continues till afternoon.

Kaziranga National Park has witnessed hunting and killing of many wild animals for commercial purposes. The worst hit was the species of rhinoceros between the years 1985-2005. Government laid down laws and regulation in order to curb these poaching activities.

In addition to this, anti- poaching camps were built and patrolling by officials was done at peak hours of hunting. To keep these animals from harm’s way, the authority is trying to popularise this wildlife habitat. The mysterious jungles, the majestic animals are really a great natural part to preserve.
