Timing
Applications for all passport/consular services (like issue of
new/duplicate passports, additional booklets, renewal and miscellaneous
services on passports, legalisation/attestation of documents) are
received at the Consular Counter from 9.00 a.m. to 12 noon on all
working days. |

All serviced passports are delivered the next day between 9.30 a.m. and 12 noon. Attestation/legalisation of documents are serviced same day. Issue of new passports/additonal booklets take five working days. This time schedule does not apply to services where reference to other offices/authorities is necessary. |
| Visa Information
1. The Embassy of India has the jurisdiction over
entire Thailand, except the following Northern Provinces that fall
under the Consulate of India, Chiangmai:-
Chiangmai, Chiangrai, Lampang, Lamphun, Mae Hong Son, Parae, Phitsanulok,
Phechabun, Sukhothai, Tak, Uttradit, Phayao, Nakhon, Sawan, Kampengphet,
Pichit and Utthai Thani.
2. Passports valid for minimum of six months beyond
the date of intended departure from India should accompany visa
application form.
3. Please paste one photo and staple the other
on the form at specified place (size of photo: 45mmx35mm)
4. The visa application form (annexure III) can
be freely duplicated for use. |

| 5. Application for visas are received at the Consular
Counter from 9.00a.m. to 12 noon on all working days. It is our
endeavour to issue visas to Thai nationals and foreigners resident
in Thailand as quickly as possible, preferably the next day between
9.30a.m. and 12noon. Applicants holding other than Thai passports
should submit proof of residence or long-term stay( at least three
years). As proof of waiver, copy of residence permit/work permit
in Thailand may be enclosed. For applicants who do not normally
stay in Thailand, references have to made to the country of residence
for which an additional fee of Baht 400 is levied and will involve
four working days of processing after receipt of the application.
Chinese, Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan nationals who are
not permanent residents of Thailand have to apply for visa in the
country of their residence. Applications of Chinese nationals permanently
resident in Thailand may take one to three months time to process
depending upon the purpose of the visit. Pakistani and Sri Lankan
passports will take ten working days for processing.

Types OF Visa
(a) Transit (TR) Visa : is intended for transit through
India to third country. It is issued for single/double entries on
production of confirmed onward air tickets.
(b) Tourist (T) visa : is intended for those going
to India for tourism/holidays, etc. Tourist visa is valid for six
months from the date of issue. This visa is non-extendable and non-convertible.
(c) Business (B) Visa: is intended for those who
go to India for business purpose. This visa is issued for single/multiple
entries and for a stay of three/six months at a time. Introductory
letter/note from their Indian counterpart is required. Business
visa valid for five years with multiple entries is available to
foreign businessmen who have set up industrial/business joint ventures
in India.
(d) Long term (LT) Visa: Foreign nationals of
Indian origin as well as other foreigners resident in Thailand for
more than three years are issued visas valid upto five years with
stay in India upto six months on each visit or for a continuous
stay upto five years. Those who wish to stay in India continuously
for more than 180 days are required to register themselves with
the Foreigners Regional Registration Office within two weeks of
their arrival in India. |

(e) Student(S) Visa: Student visa is normally
available for period of study. Full details of course of studies
and firm letter of admission from a recognised institute/school
in India should be provided with the application.
