India is a proud country of largest number of Muslim population in the world. Like any other festivals the Muslim festivals are celebrated here with complete excitement and joy. Some popular Muslim festivals are Bakra Eid, Eid-ul-Fitr, Barah Wafat Celebration, and Muharram.
Bakra Eid:
It is one of the most celebrated Muslim festivals allover the world. It is consider as day of sacrifice, according to legendry tell that all started with a dream in which Allah directed the patriarch Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismail.
Before performing the sacrifice Ismail tied a cloth around his father's eyes. But when Ibrahim opened his eyes he found his son safe and sound and his place laid a dead dumba.
After that every year in that day Muslims in all over the world sacrifice an animal, which shows their faith, sincerity, and allegiance towards Allah. In India Goat is sacrificed and that’s why occasion is called Bakra Eid.
Eid-ul-Fitr:
The Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated in the end of Ramzan period during the month of April or May. Ramzan is a ninth month in the Muslim calendar and according to legendry tell in this month holy Qur’an was reveled.
Thus Ramzan is regarded as highly auspicious month and during whole month Muslims fasting (called Roza) and pray. On the day of Eid-ul-Fitr people breaking their fast and greet each other and enjoy siwai kheer.
Barah Wafat:
it is also called Eid-e-Milad, is one of the important festivals in the Muslim calendar. It is to believe it was the day when Prophet Mohammed were born and also the death.
In India the celebration mainly consist of street functions and processions. The festival mainly commemorates the beliefs of Prophet Mohammed. |
