Fort and Palaces in Andhra Pradesh

The historical monuments, lush green areas, and cultural and traditional colors of life make Andhra Pradesh one of the popular tourist destinations of India.

It is an ideal place to understand the Indian culture and religion. The capital city of Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad has many attractions to attract tourists from around the world.

There are many wonderful palaces and forts are situated in and around of Hyderabad city.

The sharp and beautiful wood carvings and antiques of these forts and palaces will definitely attract you. Some popular forts and palaces in Andhra Pradesh are:

Golconda Fort:
It is consider as one of the most magnificent fort complexes in India. The wonderful fort is located few kilometers from the state capital Hyderabad. The grand fort was made by Kakatiyas rulers in the 13th century and later major portion of the fort was built by the Qutub Shahi Kings, during 16 and 17 centuries.

The fort is stand on a granite hill about 120 meters high and surrounded by walls of solid rocks.

The 11 kilometers long wall surrounded the entire township of Golconda and is strongly fortified. One of the most notable features of Golconda is its system of acoustics. There are various ruins of palaces and other building stand in the fort.

Falaknama Palace:
It is one of the beautiful and finest palaces in Andhra Pradesh, located in Falaknuma only 5 kilometers from the Char Minar, Hyderabad.

The palace was built by Nawab Vikar-ul-Umra, the Prime Minister of Hyderabad.

The palace was designed by an Italian architect and it took 9 years to complete the construction. The palace is a fine combination of Italian and Tudor architecture.

Chowmahalla Palace:
The wonderful palace was belonging to the Nizams of Hyderabad. The palace is divided into two parts Southern Courtyard and Northern Courtyard. The Southern Courtyard is the oldest part of the palaces and it includes Afzal Mahal, Aftab Mahal, Mahtab Mahal, and Tahniyat Mahal.

This part of palace is designed in neo-classical style. The Northern Courtyard was the Bara Imam, where most of the administrative works hold. The Northern Courtyard is mixture of Persian and Mughal architecture.
