In the long course of history many dynasties has been ruled in the state and contributed something or other to the architecture treasure of the state. That’s a reason there are various wonderful historical forts and palaces are situated. Some popular forts and palaces in Uttar Pradesh are:
Agra Fort:
The majestic fort was constructed by Mughal Emperor Akbar. The construction of the fort was started in 1665 and it was completed in 1671.
The fort is designed in typical Mughal architectural style with 20 meter high walls and surrounded by a moat.
The fort is among the finest examples of the fusion architecture that has dominated the Mughal Era. The popular attractions of the Agra Fort are Jahangir Palace, Divan-e-Aam, Devan-e-Khash, Anguri Bagh, Moti Masjid, Mina Masjid, and Shish Mahal among others.
Fatehpur Sikri:
It is a ruin city of Mughal era with many palaces of that time. Fatehpur Sikri was established by Mughal Emperor Akbar and used as Cpaital of Mughal kingdom for few years.
Fatehpur Sikri was commissioned in the year 1570 and took five years in completion. The complex houses various palaces those were used by Mughal Emperor and his family.
Allahabad Fort:
The grand and magnificent fort was commissioned by Mughal Emperor Akbar in year 1583. Fort is presently used by the India Army as barrack but a substantial part of the fort is still opened to the visitors.
Jhansi Fort:
It is one of the best designed forts in India. The Jhansi Fort was commissioned by the Raja Bir Singh Deo in the early 17th century.
The fort is stand on the top of the hillock and in the past used as army stronghold and garrison. Visitors can see many palaces and temple inside the fort. |
