The state of Gujarat has a total road length of 74,031 kilometers. The National Highways found here constitute 4.5% of the total length of India's National Highways.
Around 95.48% of it is surfaced roads and the total road length per 100 square kilometer is 37.77 kilometers.
Being a major tourist destination in the country, the state is well connected by roads to the other major states.
The 25 districts including Gandhi Nagar, Kachchh, Ahmedabad, Surat and Jamnagar are also well-linked.
A road map is very helpful in traveling by road in the said districts since routes are clearly detailed. It would also be easier to calculate the distance between one tourist destination to another. The roads are also key factors that made Gujarat one of India's most industrialized states.
Industries involved with fast moving goods such as vegetable oils and some cash crops benefit from any form of road developments. Gujarat's many ports meanwhile are linked by coastal shipping routes. Kandla for one, is a major international shipping terminal.
