Tourist Map of Gujarat
Over the years, Gujarat has witnessed a string of races-settlers as well as conquerors-and combined their cultures into its own. All these resulted into a wonderful fusion of new ideas and old world traditions. The home state of Mahatma Gandhi, Gujarat is rich in crafts, history and natural beauty, making it attractive to artists, scholars, intellectuals and businessmen from around the world.
Although Gujarat has fairly little forest cover left, it still houses more than 40 species of animals including the rare Asiatic Lion, wild ass and blackbuck. A variety of birds and reptiles completes the list of wildlife the state supports. |

The famous Gir National Park in Gujarat is known to have exerted exhausting national and international efforts to protect a tiger, which was once on the verge of extinction. The effort has resulted in a healthy build-up of populations to several thousand, which are protected in other reserves such as that at Ranthambore, in Rajasthan. |
