‘The end of the habitable world', Kullu (1200m) was once known as Kulanthpitha. Kullu, which also means “Valley of Gods,” possesses a striking display of valleys and despite the long centuries of seclusion, the district's locals have managed to keep it in its top traditionally charming shape.
This is where a brilliantly elaborate mesh of numerous valleys stem out--each of which is a visual delight and only seems more beautiful than the other.
It is really a splendid marvel. Except for few months in the winter the climate of the district remains relatively acceptable the whole year.
Kullu is now a bustling and progressive business and economic center. Among its many charms is its esteemed reputation in the production of fruits. It has an eclectic arrangement of nearby village and district inhabitants, shop owners and government employees from the states that border it. This creates the distinctively charming feel that separates it from the rest of the valley.
The river Beas is flowing by the side of Kullu which is located in the western Himalayas. Kullu is the land of apple orchards which can be found along the river Beas. Dussera is the great festival that Kullu celebrates every year in the month of September or October.
Every season has its own scenario. During autumn you can see the clear blue skies and the fields are filled of crimson and ochre. With the advent of December all the greenery fades except the majestic pines and cedars in the forest. However, during winter the hills are covered with white snows. |
