The
Shiv Niwas Palace is a magnificent palace located on the shores
of the picturesque Lake Pichola in Udaipur. A crescent shaped building,
it sits comfortably on a hill at the southern end of the City Palace
Complex.
This entire complex was a conglomerate built by twenty-three
successive Maharanas. Shiv Niwas Palace built by Maharana Fateh
Singh during the early twentieth century and was to be his private
residence.
Later turned into the guesthouse for the visiting dignitaries
and in its final avatar, it was converted into a luxury hotel where
travellers from India and abroad could come and relive the past. A
crescent adorning the southern end of the Palace complex, the Shiv
Niwas Palace Udaipur was originally Maharana Fateh Singhji's residence. |

The rooms around this awe-inspiring courtyard were used as a place
for entertaining personal guests. It was the vision of the His Late
Highness Maharana Bhagwat Singhji Mewar, which led to its conversion
into a luxury hotel. Shiv Niwas Palace Udaipur is now categorised
as a Grand Heritage Palace as it has been restored to its original
pristine glory.
