Ayodhya is one of the holiest cities of India and an
important Hindu pilgrim. Ayodhya is birthplace of Lord Ram (an important
deity in the Hindu religion). The small city is located on the bank
of auspicious Saryu River in the center of Uttar Pradesh an Indian
state. The small old city attracts the tourist from all over country
especially during festivals and religious functions. Ayodhya is
130 kilometers from the Lucknow (nearest airport) and only 6 kilometers
from the Faizabad. Tourist can see the Ram Janmabhumi (birthplace
of Lord Ram) shrine. It is believed that Lord Ram spent much of
his childhood here. Other places to visit in Ayodhya are Lakshman
Ghat, Kala Ram temple and the Kanak Bhavan temple and several Jain
shrines in Ayodhya. One kilometer east of the Ram Janmabhumi shrine
is Hanumangadhi. It is said that Lord Hanuman lived in a cave nearby
to protect the Ram Janmabhumi. The religious city provides hotels,
dharamsala and resort for quality accommodations.
