Location Map of Karnataka
If you wish to visit the Garden City of Bangalore, then head to Karnataka at the south of India. Created in 1956 under the States Reorganization Act, the state, whose name means lofty land, is comprised of the old princely state of Mysore and the former states of Coorg, Hyderabad, Bombay and Madras.
The move was driven by the aim to bring together the Kannada-speaking people. They are descendants of the Dravidians, who inhabited India before the Aryan settlement.
Though English and Hindi are used for businesses, more than seventy percent of the state's population speaks Kannada, which is the state's official language.
