Rail Map of Karnataka
It is only in Karnataka that one can get a glimpse of old rocks jutting out in odd shapes, see rivers swiftly flowing across the region and smell the sweet and everlasting scent of sandalwood Sitauted in the southern part of the country, it is surrounded by other states like Maharashtra and Goa in the north, Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the south, Andhra Pradesh in the east and the Arabian Sea in the west.
The four main physiographic regions namely the coastal plains, the hills of the Western Ghats, the surging Karnataka Plateau in the east, and the north-west cotton-growing region showcases lushness and abundant wildlife.
However, the Karnataka Plateau has poor soils and suffers periodic droughts even with the fact that Karnataka's three main rivers, the Cauvery, the Krishna, and the Tungabhadra, originate from it. |
