Think of hazy mountain ranges, lovely waterfalls, a discord of migratory bards and the gentle fragrance of teak, ebony and rosewood – all these are spread all over Karnataka.
Complementing these wonderful gifts of nature is the revolution of information technology in the state, making it one of the forerunners in the country.
This fact however has not been a cause of disadvantage to forest-covered areas of the state. In fact, Karnataka harbors several wildlife sanctuaries and is still blossoming with a rich flora and fauna.
Among the major wildlife sanctuaries found here are the Bandipur National Park, B.R. Hills, Nagarhole National Park, Ranganathittu Wildlife Sanctuary and Chamundi Hills.
The state is also part of India's two well-defined regions that is the Deccan Plateau and the Coastal Plains and Islands. It can be further divided into four physiographic regions-the Northern Karnataka Plateau, Central Karnataka Plateau, Southern Karnataka Plateau, Karnataka Coastal Region.
