Being dubbed the “Heart of India” doesn’t merely mean that a place is located in the center of the country. Madhya Pradesh is beating with significance as a seat of several cultural and religious heritages such as Hindhuism, Buddhism, Jainism and Islam.
Situated in North-central India, the state came into existence under the States Reorganization Act of 1956. It is the country's largest state with an area of 308,209 square kilometers. Mainly consisting of a large plateau, the State has something to offer for everyone.
Aside from being the richest state of India, Madhya Pradesh is dotted with innumerable monuments, stupas, exquisitely carves temples, forts and palaces that speak of a rich and vibrant cultural heritage. With its spectacular mountain ranges, meandering rivers and vast of dense forests, the state's natural beauty is indeed equally varied and offers and exciting panorama of wildlife in sylvan surroundings.
Among its villages, one that captured worldwide attention is Khajuraho. Found in the obscure place are temples built of stone and distinguished by carved walls and spires, depicting subjects ranging from deities and celestial beings.
