Mumbai, an area that spans a total of 468 square kilometer, is hard to imagine as being just a group of islands that were once just the humble home of a local community of fisher folk.
Often it is said that the origin of the name is unclear, but some people believe that it was derived from the Portuguese phrase bom bahia which means "good bay."
Ever since then, it has quickly grown in its industrial and economical development and is now home to a metropolis of a whopping 15-million people.
It's dubbed as India's financial capital and is also the hub for the arts and entertainment Industry. Mumbai has greatly prospered over the years thanks to its flourishing textile industry and its seaport. Just recently though, its local economy has been ushered into the businesses of engineering, diamond polishing, healthcare and information technology to further grow in its economical and financial expansion.
