Tourist Map of Meghalaya
Meghalaya is a small state located in the North-eastern India. The name is Hindi and Sanskrit term for “The Abode of Clouds.” It is home to some of the thickest surviving forests in India and therefore makes up one of the most important ecotourism circuits in the country today.
The state has two National Parks and three Wildlife Sanctuaries affording a lot of adventure activities such as mountaineering, rock climbing, trekking and hiking, water sports and many more. Some of the trekking routes offered also serve as an opportunity for the tourists to encounter some rare animals such as the Slow Loris, assorted deer and bear.

| The state also has the Umiam Lake that has a water sports complex with facilities such as rowboats, paddleboats, sailing boats, cruise boats, water scooters and speedboats. Meghalaya has around 500 natural limestone and sandstone caves spread over its entire area including five of the longest and deepest caves in the sub-continent. Some of these also have water channels flowing through them. Adventurous cavers from around the world have been lured to visiting the state, and they just keep coming back. |
