District Map of Mizoram
Mizoram is a state located in North-eastern India, bounded by Myanmar in the East and South, Bangladesh in the West and by Mnaipur, Assam and the Tripura States in the North. It covers an area of 21,087 square kilometers.
The word Mizoram literary means “Land of the Highlanders.” As the name implies, its topography is mainly dominated by the Mizo Hills which rise to more than 2,000 meters (6,560 feet) near the border with Myanmar. The hills here are mostly covered with evergreen forests rich in valuable timber trees, bamboo, wild banana, and flowers like orchids, begonias and geraniums. |

Most of the population of Mizoram is spread all over the rural areas. During the 20th century, the state has remained industrially undeveloped due to lack of mineral resources, lack of transportation and communication and the lack of infrastructure.
However, transport links are now improving and the state is becoming more accessible. A lot is waiting to be discovered in these place where the highlanders marveled. |
