Road Map of Mizoram
Mizoram is situated in the North-eastern part of India. It is known as the third youngest state of the Indian Union. Mostly composed of high hills, specifically the Mizo Hills, its slopes are covered with dense evergreen forests with exotic flora, timber trees, wild banana and bamboo. Gushing rivers and sparkling waterfalls flow through the hill ranges and plunging gorges.
Most of Mizoram's population occupies the rural areas and they earn their living through agriculture, forestry and timber industry. Sawmills, hand-woven textiles and handicrafts are also significant sources of income for the Mizos. |

| The state's isolation and poor internal communications were reasons why significant industry remained immature during the 20th century. Slowly now transportation connections are developing and thereby making the state more reachable. Mizoram has more then 5,000 kilometers (3,100 miles) of roads.
There is an airport in the city of Aizawl, the state's capital, which operates flights to Kolkata and Silchur. A second airport also opened in 1998 at Lengpui, Assam. |
