Road Map of Nagaland
The mountainous territory of Nagaland can be found in the North-eastern part of India, bounded by the Assam State on the West, Myanmar on the East, by the Arunachal Pradesh State on the North and by the Manipur State in the South.
Making up the former Naga Hills District of Assam and part of the former North East Frontier Agency, Nagaland was declared the sixteenth state of the Indian Union on December 1, 1963. It is composed of seven districts namely Kohima, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Wokha, Zunheboto, Phek and Mon. |

The state's population is almost entirely tribal. Nagaland is inhabited by 16 tribes and sub-tribes known for their passion for dance and festivals which they celebrate with gay abandon amidst a bright colors.
The state itself is endowed with a kaleidoscopic landscape of blue hills, green valley, criss-crossing streams and rivers running through the ranges and gorges. It too, like some of the other Indian states is blessed with a rich variety of flora and fauna. |
