A rich state wedged between Nepal, Bhutan and China. Sikkim is a small striking state of India in the Eastern Himalayas with sheer mountains and deep valleys.
In the south it has its Indian border shared with the state of West Bengal. One of the highest regions in India, Sikkim is passed through by the main range of the Himalayas and by a few spur ranges.
The area is endowed with wondrous mountain peaks, lush picturesque valleys, perfectly terraced hills, scented pine forests, fast flowing rivers offering excellent river rafting, hidden mountain lakes, lovely sights, unpolluted air, forest-trails, monasteries and incredible floral wealth make it a virtual Shangrila. There is always something for the stressed out city executive, the adventure sports enthusiast and those interested in Buddhism and Tibetology.
And up in the cool temperature reaches where the earth gives way to granite, there is larch, fir, juniper and more rhododendrons. Here in the summertime, the meadows brighten up the state with myriads of wildflowers.
