How to Reach Assam


Assam is located between ninety to ninety six degree East Longitude and twenty four to twenty eight North Latitude. It is touched by the borders of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh in the North and East. In the south part of Assam Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland states are situated. Another state Meghalaya is placed on the South-West side and Bengal and Bangladesh to the West side of Assam. Transport by air

The best mode of travel to Assam is international airport of Guwahati known as The Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi which is linked by air to almost all of the metros in India.

Apart from it many flights are arranged by various famous airlines like Sahara Airlines, Jet Airways and Indian Airlines for Assam. Deccan Air organizes regular flights to Guwahati and you can get your tickets booked here anytime.

Even an international weekly flight is operated by Air India between Bangkok and Guwahati. You can also reach to Assam via other towns such as Dibrugarh, Silcher, Jorhat and Tezpur for which regular flights are arranged by Indian Airlines. Indian Airlines also arranges flights connecting Guwahati to the capital of many North Eastern States.

 

Transport by rail

You can reach very conveniently to Assam via Rail transport facility as it is linked to all parts of country through Rail. For visiting Assam you can avail train services from Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Trivandrum and Cochin. The B.G. line is linked up to Dibrugarh and the M.G. line is connected to Haflong and Silcher. All the major towns within state are connected through train services to each other. So it is not complicated to get there by train services rather you will find it easy to reach Assam by train.

Transport by Road

There is a big network of National Highways connecting entire cities of state with all the major states in country. Government of Assam runs Assam State Transport Corporation for providing convenient transport facilities to visitors here.


You can reach to all the towns of Assam through buses facility provided by Transport Corporation of Assam state. Apart from it you can take bus services offered by private bus operators. In addition to these services as per your desire you can also hire luxury buses and jeeps at reasonable prices which are run by the Department of Tourism.
