Nalanda: It is a well known Buddhist University that was established by the Gupta Empire in the 5th century. It witnessed around thousand of students and teachers coming from every part of the globe and was very popular till the 12th century.
 
Rajgir: Covered with forests and small hills, this city was the capital city of Magadh state at one time. This city had seen many years of Lord Buddha’s life and listened many of his sermons.

Bodh Gaya: Bodh Gaya is a very important pilgrimage for Hindus as it is known as a salvation center for their ancestors. It is also very popular because it is believed that it was here only where Lord Buddha meditated under a pipal tree to get the true enlightenment of life. This tree was named Bodhi Tree after this event and its descendant still flourish over here.


Patna: At present the capital of Bihar, Patna was previously known as Patliputra. Its history is almost 2 millennia old. This city offers tourists with a number of tourist spots that are worth a visit.

Vaishali: Vaishali is among the oldest cities in India which can be proved by its mention in the Ramayana. It has gained popularity due to the fact that the birth of Lord Mahavira, a Jain Prophet, took place in this city in 527 BC.

Pawapuri: This city is popular because Lord Mahavira was cremated in this city in 500 BC. There was such a great demand for his ashes among people that a big part of land surrounding the funeral pyre was dug which created a water tank over there.

At present, there is a temple called Jalmandir over there which was built in the middle of the tank later.
