Chhattisgarh is a newly created state of the Indian union. Earlier, it was a part of Madhya Pradesh and in ancient times, the region was famous as Southern Kosal. The region is named ‘Chhattisgarh’ because of the 36 garh or forts in the area. The romance and beauty of the state owes itself to its several prominent cities, which are each unique in itself.

Raipur: Established by the Kalchuri King, Ram Chandra, in the 14th century AD, it is the biggest city in the region. Quickly emerging as a prominent commercial, industrial and financial center, the city has a dynmic quality about it. Bilaspur: Located on the picturesque banks of River Arpa, the city is approximately 400-year-old. There are a number of tourist spots in the city, like Kanan Pendari, Sai Mangalam, Marimai Mandir Vivekanand Park, Kali Mandir, and Shree Ayappa Swami Mandir.

Dantewada: The city is based on the name of its presiding deity, Devi Danteshwari, considered as an incarnation of shakti. Legend has it that Lord Rama took shelter here during his exile. The verdant forest region is home to several endangered species and has a rich tribal culture. Some of the interesting places to visit in the city are Bodhghat Sath Dhar, Memory Pillars of Gamawada

Bastar: Situated at an expanse of 300 km from Raipur on the banks of the Indrawati River, the city is home to several ethnic tribes and is very rich in natural resources.  Jagadalpur and Danteshwari telmple are the major tourist spots of the region.

Durg: Situated around thirty eight kilometres away from Raipur, Durg city is packed with awesome tourist destinations. Bhilai steel plant is the landmark of this city which provides it the commercial value. Besides this, Township, Devi Temple and Tandula dam awesome to see.

Raigarh: Lying in the east part of the state this district is the most fastly developing town in Chhattisgarh. It is situated 134 km away from district Bilaspur.
 
Sarangarh: Sarangarh is situated about 46 km away from the Raigarh in the southwest point of the state. It has various popular tourist attractions like Kedar Dam, Giribilas Palace, Gomard Sanctuaries, Kinkari Dam and many more.
 
Sirpur: This place is located approx. seventy eight kilometres far from Raipur. This city boasts with various tourist attractions such as Buddha Vihar, museum and Laxman Mandir.
