How to Reach Himachal Pradesh


Himachal Pradesh is located in North West part of Himalayas. It is equipped with quality transport system.

It is accessible from all parts of India through rail transport, air transport and road transport system.

Although being a hilly area it is very difficult to construct railway line easily here. During winter and monsoon season due to snowfall and landslides many routes to Himachal Pradesh are closed.

Transport by Air

Kullu is the nearest airport to Himachal Pradesh situated at the distance of 23 kilometers away.

Apart from this you can also reach Himachal Pradesh through other parts of state like Kullu, Shimla, Palampur and Chamba. From Jubbarhati Airport in Shimla flights are arranged for Chandigarh, Delhi and Kullu.

Chandigarh airport is very near to Kasauli and from there you can hire a taxi for reaching Kasauli.

Another Airport Gaggal in Himachal Pradesh can be approached for reaching Palampur which is 35 km away from here and Chamba which is 140 km away. Daily flights are operated by Vayudoot and Jagson from Delhi to Himachal Pradesh.

Transport by Rail
Kalka is the nearest railway station in Himachal Pradesh. From Kasauli it is only 41 km away. Maranda railway station situated between Joginder Nagar and Pathankot is only two km away from Palampur. Through a railway line Shimla is linked with Kalka and from there via other trains it is connected with rest of the cities. Shimla is only 95 km away from Kalka. In its way from Shimla to Kalka many eye catching places come. Direct rain from Amritsar, Bombay, Calcutta and Delhi are available daily.

Transport by Road
Himachal Pradesh is connected with other states through a big network of National Highways. From Chandigarh by road it is just 117 km away. From Delhi by road it is 344 km away and a number of buses and taxis are available to reach here. If you are taking the route of Delhi to Mandvi then by road the distance is only 535 kms. away.

Daily many luxury buses are run between Delhi and Shimla. National Highways from Ambala, Chandigarh, Delhi and Pathankot are laid to Himachal Pradesh. If you are going from Delhi to Himachal Pradesh then take route of National Highway1. For heading to Himachal Pradesh from Ambala take National Highway 22 for Kasauli.
