Jammu and Kashmir is the land of mountains covered with snow and trees. The cities of Jammu and Kashmir are full of each variety one can think of, be it a land of flowers or the land of gold or the land of temples.

The most famous cities of Jammu and Kashmir are given below:

Gulmarg: Situated at an altitude 2730 meters, in district Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, the topography of this place is very gently inclined.  

This city lies very near to the Indo-Pak border and is elegantly located in a pine basin of Pir Panjal mountain range. Popularly known as meadow of flowers, it has a pleasant sight of colorful flowers blossoming all around with changing colors as there is a change in the season.

Jammu: Ranked second biggest city in the state, and called the temple city, Jammu is the central point for the tourists on a tour of northern India to Kashmir. Being a plain region of the state, it is very hot as compared to the cool region of Kashmir during the summers. Known as winter capital, it is the main center for trade in the state.  

Leh: Situated between the beautiful and grand mountains that slowly merge with the haven of green colored fields, Leh is located at an altitude of 11,000 feet. It is the capital city of Leh and Ladakh.

Ladakh: Ladakh, a plateau lying in the northern Himalayas at a very high altitude is a land of cold winds and hot sunlight. It is the coldest desert in the world. A very less amount of rain is witnessed by this place, which makes it very dry area. Covered by the Himalayas and the Karokaram, two of the mightiest mountain ranges in the world, this landscape is an extraordinary place.

Srinagar:  Srinagar is the capital city of Jammu and Kashmir. Also popular as the city of lakes with its many dazzling lakes and a magnificent backdrop of Himalayas, it is a very busy tourist spot and the commercial center of the state. The city displays a beautiful sight of Mughal architecture in its buildings and is famous for the houseboats and shikaras that are always covering the lakes of the city.
