Main Cities in Jharkhand

Jharkhand is one place on the face of earth where people feel like coming back again and again because the state is an amalgamation of Hills, Forests, Water Falls, National Parks and Temples. The main important cities in Jharkhand are Jamshedpur, Hazaribugh, Deoghar, Bokaro,Dhanbad.

Ranchi

Ranchi is the capital of Jhankhand. In past Ranchi was known as Lohardaga. The name was changed in 1899 after the name of a small village.

Ranchi is known for its famous health as well as holiday resort and also for its sacred pilgrimages. Some beautiful sights in the town comprise Tagore Hill, Ranchi Lake, Ranchi Hill are just to name few.

Hundru Falls, Jonha Falls, Dassam Falls, Pahari Mandir, Gonda Hill and Rock Garden, Sun Temple all are within 50km from Ranchi.

Jamshedpur
Jamshedpur is also known as Tatanagar. The city is named after the name of late Jamshedji, the founder of Tata Iron and Steel Company. It is heavily industrialized and a much planned city.

Jamshedpur is well connected by railway and also by road with most of the major cities in India. Musabani is a place where copper mines are located. It’s only 40 km away from Jamshedpur. Dimna Lake is only 8 miles away from Jamshedpur.

Bokaro
Bokaro is the headquarters of Bokaro district. It is situated on the southern bank of river Damodar. The easy availability of coal, iron, ore, manganese and other raw materials made it a perfect place for building a steel plant. There are many places of tourist interest in Bokaro and Bokaro Steel Plant is definitely one of them. St. Xavier’s School is the first private school in Bokaro. But from 1980 the town is still being enlarged with new schools, parks, zoos and public facilities.

Dhanbad
Dhanbad is one of the most important industrial centres in India. Maximum mineral wealth of India is found in Dhanbad. Topchanchi, an artificial lake surrounded by green hills and forest lies 37kms away from Dhanbad. The Mithon Dam and Hydel Power Stations are located in this town. There is a water filter plant of Mineral Area Development Authority from where water supply is being made to this district.

Hazaribagh
Hazaribagh is famous for its healthy climate and beautiful sceneries. Suraj Kund Hot Spring is only 72kms away from Hazaribagh. The city is full of parks and gardens. It takes a whole day to visit all the parks of the city. Canari Hill is only 5km from Hazaribagh and one can go there by Cycle Rickshaws. Rajrappa Falls is 89kms from the town. State Transport Bus runs each and everyday in the early morning from the town to the Falls.

Deoghar
Deoghar is a famous pilgrim centre. It is situated in the santhal parganas of Jharkhand. Baidyanath Temple and Basakinath Temple are famous for Shiva Temples in the town. HarilaJoria which is close to Deoghar, is also famous for Shiva Temple. From above it is quite clear that this colorful state has lot to offer. So one must go and explore it as soon as he can.
