Meghalaya,
literally the Abode of Clouds, is home to Cherrapunji, the wettest

Important festivals of each tribe:
Wangala or Dance of Hundred Drum festival is a harvest festival
of the Garos, observed in the honour of 'Satyong', the God of fertility.
Nongkrem Dance is also a harvest festival, observed to request for
peace and prosperity of the community, by the Khasi tribe. Jaintias celebrate Behdienkhlam in July after the sowing period
is over.
