How to reach Mizoram

Mizoram is situated in the north-eastern part of India.  Mizoram is connected with the other part of India through well-developed road network and provides inter-state bus service as well.

In spite of being a hill state Mizoram also has a domestic airport too. If one wants to spend a few days amidst the landscapes of the beautiful hills, lakes and rivers, he could make his itineraries by the following ways of transport.

How to reach Mizoram by air? The domestic airport Lengpui is situated in Aizal, the capital city of the state. It provides air service to Guwahati, the capital city of Assam and Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal.

One can take a flight from Delhi or other metro cities of India to Guwahati to visit Mizoram as the Guwahati Airport serves service to Mizoram. One can also visit Mizoram from Kolkata via Silchar airport of Assam. Traffic snarl is not seen in the airport. The Lengpui airport is well-connected with the other main towns and tourist spots of Mizoram.

How to reach Mizoram by roads?

Most of the roads of Mizoram built by the British are survived till now. National highway 50, NH-150, 40, connect Mizoram to the other states of north-east.

National Highway 150 links the state to the capital of Manipur, Imphal and NH-40 links Mizoram with Tripura. Silchar, a city of Assam, which is called the gateway to Manipur and Mizoram, is well-linked with Mizoram by the national highway 54.

One can visit this hill state via Guwahati and Silchar, the cities of Assam. Tata Sumos are available from Sichar to Mizoram. The interstate roads link Aizal and Lengpui to the other remote hilly areas of the state.

How to reach Mizoram by rail?
Mizoram is not directly connected by rail to the other cities of India. But one can visit Mizoram via Silchar rail station of Assam. The Silchar rail station is 180 kms away from Aizal, the capital of Mizoram. Private bus, taxi, rental car provide service from this rail station to Aizal. Mizoram State Transport serves bus service from Aizal to Silchar.

The trains such as Barak Valley Express, Cachar Express and Tripura Passenger run from Guwahati, the main gateway of north-east, to Silchar rail station. Deluxe day and night buses are available from Silchar to the main towns of Mizoram. It is the easiest way to visit Mizoram by private cars and buses via Silchar city of Assam.
