Tourist Attractions of Mizoram

Situated on the eastern part of Himalayas, Mizoram shines beautifully with its hills, rivers and lakes. It shares international border with Myanmar and Bangladesh. The state is inhabited by various ethnic tribes, of which 88% belongs to the Christian. The tribes were converted to Christianity by the British missionaries. 70% population of the state depends on agriculture. The state is famous for bamboo cultivation and rich art and crafts of the tribal people.

Phawngpui

The orchids and rhododendrons of the Blue Mountain, which is known as Phawngpui among the Mizos, make Blue Mountain lively and beautiful. The Mizo people offer ritual sacrifices here as they think that it is an abode of God. As the mountain is situated on the bank of the river Kolodyne, its landscape is very beautiful.

Pala Tipo

The Pala Tipo or Pala Lake, the biggest lake of Mizoram, is surrounded by dense forests. The lake and its surroundings are still in the lapse of nature. Various amusement and entertainment centers are there for the visitors.

Lodaw Wildlife Sanctuary

If you want to see the wild animals in Mizoram, visit the Lodaw Wildlife Sancutary. It is situated near Siaha, the capital town.


Sibuta Lung

Situated at a distance of 20 kms away from Aizal, Sibuta Lung is a memorial stone built by a Palian chief. It is located at Tachhip village.

Phulpuri grave

The graves of phulpuri village, related to the mythical love story of the Mizos are a beautiful tourist spot of Mizoram. The villages of Phulpuri are embodiment of the tribes, their way of living and beliefs.

Pangzawl

The tragic folklores of Chawngungi have its roots in Pangzal village. One can enjoy every moment here by viewing the ethnic properties of the tribes, their rituals and customs.

Tomb of Vanhimailian

The tomb was built in memory of the chief, Vanhimailian, who rules the Champhai plain. The landscapes of the nearby villages of Champhai are very beautiful.


Lungvandawt

The stone made tall pillar, Lungvandawt is located between Biate and Lungdar. It is said that the stone pillar in ancient times touched heaven and so it is now known as stone touching heaven.

Image of Buddha

Located at a distance of 8 km away from Mualchang village, the areas that having the image of Buddha and the images of the dancing girls, is visited by the tourists all over the year. It is said that these engravings were done by the metal artists while they sharpened their metal instruments.
