Nagaland, the “Switzerland of the East” has two main cities. As city is a result of the industrial development, but Nagaland is still in the lapse of nature.
Kahima
Kahima, the capital city of Nagaland, is situated in the southwest part of the state. It is originally a beautiful hill station nested in the eastern frontiers of the Himalayan Range.
It is also in the lapse of nature. The surrounding hills, the Naga villages still keep the calmness of the city.
The nearest airport is Kahima. Dimapur rail station has train service to Guwahati, the main business hub of the north-eastern region.
Nagaland State service runs state buses from Dimapur to Kahima. From Guwahati, private bus, taxi, rental cars are available to Kahima. The main tourist spots of Kahima are War Cemetry, Zoological Park, The Catholic Cathedral, State Museum and the traditional market.
The Zoological Park is the home of the animal and birds found in the state. The Kahima village, the second largest village of Asia, welcomes the tourist with a wooden gate.
The Angami ancestors lived here. The art and crafts of Naga tribes are stored in the State Museum. The best time to visit Kahima is from November to March.
