Nagaland is considered as a remote state like the other north-eastern states. Though the air, rail and road network are not so accessible here, yet the state has a domestic airport, north-eastern rail service and inter-state roads.

How to reach Nagaland by air?

Nagaland has only one domestic airport, Dimapur Airport. It is operated by the Airports Authority of India. The airport serves airlines to Guwahati, the capital city of Assam and Calcutta, the capital city of West Bengal. As Dimapur Airport serves airlines to Guwahati and Calcutta, both have good air network with the main cities of India and overseas, one can first visit Nagaland via Guwahati and Calcutta. The airport is cool and calm. One will not face any traffic congestion here. Dimapur is well-linked with the main tourist spots of the state.

How to reach Nagaland by rail?

The main rail station of Nagaland is Dimapur, which serves rail service to Guwahati, the main city of Assam, the gateway to the north-eastern state. As Guwahati Rail station is well-linked with the main cities of India, one can visit Nagaland via Guwahati.

The visitors will not face difficulty if they reserve train ticket from Guwahati to Dimapur. Various private buses run from Dimapur rail station to the other main cities of the north-eastern state.

How to reach Nagaland by roads?

Though the road network is not expanded to the remote areas of the state, yet the state has so many roads connected to the main tourist spots. Kahima, the state capital, is linked by roads to the capital city of Assam, Guwahati and Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya. Private bus services are available from Shillong to Kahima.

The other small towns of the state are linked to Kahima by several small roads. Nagaland State service runs state buses from Dimapur to Kahima. From Guwahati, private bus, taxi, rental cars are available to Kahima.
