What to See in Orissa

Situated on east part of India Orissa is a very beautiful place to visit. It is basically dominated with rural lands. It is full of fertile green coastal fields which are extended to the hills of Eastern Ghats.

It is well famous for its age old temples and ethnic and traditional handicrafts work of this state is renowned all over the country.

Temples in Orissa
Temples are the major tourist attractions in Orissa. There are world renowned holy temples like Jagannath Temple in Puri, Son temple in Konark and Lingaraja temple in Bhubaneshwar. Rath Yatra festival in Jagannath temple in Puri attracts many tourists from across the country.

Puri beach
Puri beach is one of the most visited beaches in country. It has religious importance as the abode of Lord Jagannath is situated here.

Thousands of people visit this place just to take a holy bath in the beach water. They believe that it is a path to attain Moksha or salvation. It is so beautiful that you can not simply resist yourself from having a walk on the sand of Puri beach.

Chilka Lake
Chilka Lake in Orissa is well known for the arrival of migratory birds during the month of December to January. Chilka Lake is known as one of the largest salt water pond in Asia. Many small stony islands constitute this lake. This lake is used for training purpose of Indian navy sailors.

Barabati Fort
Barabati was initially constructed around eleventh century and then reconstructed in fourteenth century. In its golden days there used to be a canal around the fort which had crocodiles. Now the interior décor of fort has been changed according to modern scenario but still the unique charm of fort is retained in its glorious aura. Goddess Katak Chandi temple is located very near to temple.
