Tourist Attraction in Sikkim

Sikkim, small but beautiful, is the land of magnetic and picturesque beauty that is lying all around the state with many a mountains peaks and hills.

With its intact or untouched natural beauty, wildlife and flora and fauna, the landlocked region has been the most hot spot place for domestic and foreign tourist both.

The ancient monasteries, stupas, temples and lush greenery grab the attention everybody.

A few of the main attractions of Sikkim are (1) Orchid Sanctuary, (2) Gangtok City, (3) Rumtek Monastery, (4) Tsomgo Lake, (5) Pelling (Pemyangtse), (5) Pemyangtse Monastery, (6) Khechepalri Lake: and don’t forget the adventure sports, awaiting you to explore each and every aspect of Sikkim.

(1) Orchid Sanctuary: Situated within the premises of the Research Institute of Tibetology, this is the most renowned orchid sanctuary where 500 species of orchids local to Sikkim are nurtured.

(2) Gangtok City: the capital of Sikkim lies in the south-east area of Sikkim at an elevation of 1,780 m, and is center of trade in Sikkim. Gangtok City is a modern with all vibes of city life blended with conventional style of living. Here you can see mainly the Bhutia, the Lepcha, and the Nepali people. The city has strange ways to grab and surprise the visitors. It is a charismatic, laid-back town straddling a ridge with houses spilling down the hillside.

(3) Rumtek Monastery: Sikkim’s toppest attraction is situated at 24km from Gangtok. Claimed to be the richest Buddhist monastic center in India, Rumtek is consisted with a few of the world's rarest and distinctive religious artifacts. Golden Stupa is claimed to be the most respected part of the complex.

(4) Tsomgo Lake: At an altitude of 3, 780 metres lies the Tsomgo Lake, which is at 40 kms from Gangtok. This composed lake is said to be frozen through the winter months. It claims to bring forth a perfect home for the Red Panda and many species of birds. There are also an assortment of flowers such as rhododendrons, primulas, blue as well as yellow poppies and irises.

(5) Pelling (Pemyangtse) lies at an altitude of 6,800 ft and provides an excellent view of the mountain ranges.

(6) Pemyangtse Monastery: this monastery situated on a hill top, at an altitude of 6,840 ft., claims to provide an outstanding view of the Himalayan ranges with nearby hills and scenery.

(7) Khechepalri Lake: Hidden in the forest, this lake is claimed to be one of the sacrosanct lakes of Sikkim by Buddhists and Hindus both. It is also said that birds don’t allow even a single leaf to drift on the surface of the lake.
