Those who are a wildlife freak, Tamil Nadu is the best and appropriate place to visit. The city has a varied geography that supports flora and fauna.

Tamil Nadu has large number of wildlife sanctuaries that have been especially set up to preserve the animal lives who are getting brutally murdered.

Anna Zoological Park, Anamalai wildlife Sanctuary, Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary are some of the important wildlife sanctuaries which claim to preserve animals.

Anna Zoological Park:

Anna Zoological Park, located in the outskirts of Chennai is one of the newly set up zoo in the country. It is located at a distance of 32 km from the city. In addition to this, Anna Zoological Park is set up over a total area of 510 hectares of arid evergreen forests. There is as such no best time to visit Anna Zoological Park which has reptiles, birds and Mammals as its best attraction. It is easy to explore this park by roads, railways and air.

Anamalai wildlife Sanctuary:

Anamalai wildlife Sanctuary, located at a distance of 90 km from Coimbatore is also renowned as Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary. It is believed that May to June then, October to February are the best time to explore this wildlife sanctuary which has numerous attractions like Wild dog, Elephant, Panther, Gaur, Sloth Bear and Porcupine etc.


Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary:

Mudumalai Wildife Sanctuary, located in the Nilgris district is at a distance of 65 kms from Ootacamund on the Ooty. It is spread over an area of 321 square km. Except June to August; all months are favorable for the visit of Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary which has Tiger, Python, Chital, Elephant and Gaur as its major attractions.

In addition to the wildlife sanctuaries, national parks are also set up for the preservation of animal life.

Mukkurthi National Park:

Mukkurthi National Park is located in the beautiful Nilgiri Hills and is a part of Nilgiri Biosphere reserve. This national park is well connected by air, roads and railways. It is observed that from February to May and from September to November are the best months to visit this attractive place which has River Otter, Barking deer and Sambhar as its major attractions.

Guindy National Park:

Guindy National Park lures the visitors towards it. This national park is spread over an area of 27.6 square kilometers. The biggest advantage of this national Park is that it can be visited throughout the year as it is full of attractions like Jungle Cat, Toddy Cats and deer.

Thus, it would not be wrong to say that Tamil Nadu is the best place for wildlife freaks.
