Bangladesh is 2 kms away from Agartala, so one can visit Tripura through Bangladesh also if he has valid visa. The nearest rail station of Bangladesh to Tripura is Akhahura, Which in turn links to Dhaka and Sylhet. It is 4 hours journey by bus from Dhaka to the border crossing. One has to take another bus from the border crossing to enter Tripura as there is no direct international bus service between Tripura and Bangladesh.
How to reach Tripura by air?
The domestic airport of Tripura is located in Agartala, the main capital city of the state. The airport is cool and calm in nature as it serves airlines to Guwahati and Kolkata only.
One can take a flight to Guwahati, thereafter to Agartala. The airport serves Indian airlines daily to Kolkata and thrice a week to Guwahati. It is well-connected with the main places of the state. Private cars and taxis are accessible here. |
How to reach Tripura by rail?
Kamarghat Railway Station, located at a distance of 140 kms away from Agartala is linked to Guwahati Rail Station of Assam. It is in the north Tripura district. One can take a train at any city of India to Guwahati, thereafter to Kumarghat. So, the main way to visit Tripura by train is via Guwahati.
Tripura is also connected with the two rail stations of Assam, Silchar and Lumding, which in turn link with the rest of India. One can visit to Tripura via the rail stations of Assam as it is not directly linked with other cities of India. |
How to Reach Tripura by Road
Tripura is linked to Guwahati via Shillong, capital of Meghalaya, by national highway 44. But it is comfortable and easy to visit Tripura through Bangladesh due to its location. From Silchar and Guwahati, bus service is accessible to Agartala.
The buses ply from the TRTC State bus stand of Agartala to Silchar and Guwahati via Shillong. Also buses are available here to the three places‑Udaipur, Unakati and Melaghar. Private buses ply from Batala bus stand to Guwahati. Private sharing jeeps are also found at Batala bus stand to the other towns and suburban areas of the state. |
