Tourist Attraction Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh, the fifth largest state of India, is located in the northern part of India. The state geographically is classified in two parts- The Gangetic Plain and the Vindhya Hills and the plateau.

The ancient history of India related to Uttar Pradesh as in it the famous dynasties of ancient rulers such as Mayuran, Gupta, Kushans and Harshabardhana ruled here.

Later most of the part of the state was invaded by the Moguls and ruled for a long time before the rule of the British imperialists.

Uttar Pradesh is now the home of the historical monuments of the Mughal nawabs. The famous tourists’ destinations of the state are discussed below.

Taj Mahal in Agra
Taj Mahal, one of the most stunning buildings of the world, was built by Moghul emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, Mamtuz Mahal. It is situated in Agra, the ancient capital of kingdom of the greatest Moghul emperor, Akbar. The Taj Mahal is world famous for its timeless beauty and grandeur.

Fatehpur Sikri in Agra
Moghul emperor Akbar built this monument as a gratitude to Sufi saint Shaikh Salim Christi. It is 37 km away from Agra. The grand architecture of Fatehpur Sikri is a conglomeration of Hindu and Islamic style.

Prayag in Allahabad
The Ganga and Yamuna meet the mythical river Saraswati here which is known as Prayag or Sangam. Prayag is located in Allahabad city. The Kumb Mela festival is celebrated here with great pomp and show.

Sarnath
It is said that Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon here. It is located near Varanasi. The ruins of Asokan Stupa are here.

Kushinagar
It is a pilgrimage centre of the Buddhists. Lord Buddha breathed here last. It is located about 51 kms from Gorakhpur. The Nirvana Temple houses the statue of "Reclining Buddha" and a number of Stupas.

Dudhwa

Lucknow State Museum
Lucknow State Museum has the ancient paintings, sculptures, coins, textiles and decorative arts. Silver and gold coins are also exhibited here.

Ayodhya
Ayodha is one of the most famous pilgrims’ spots of Uttar Pradesh. It is related to the myths of Rama. Hanuman Garhi and Nageshwarnath Temple are other two important attractions of Ayodhya.

Allahabad Fort
Allahabad Fort that located on the bank of Yamuna near the confluence of the three rivers is a famous tourist destination of Uttar Pradesh. It is well known for its old grandeur.

Kashi Vishwanath Temple
Vishwanath temple is situated in Varanasi city. The myths of Vishwanath temple are related to Hindu god Lord Shiva. It is considered by the Hindus as one of the sacred temples of India.  Tourists from all over the world visit this temple and throng the ghats of Varanasi.
